About the Jackfruit

Jackfruit is one of the most fascinating fruits I personally have come across. After understanding the nutritional facts I'm not even sure I can call it a fruit, it's a miracle! Jackfruit, also known as the miracle fruit or the vegetable meat has been mentioned around 300 B.C. and has really been cultivated extensively starting in the 1950s. Learn the nutritional facts to understand why its called the Miracle Fruit and why vegans love it as a meat substitute. It can be eaten raw and enjoyed as a tropical fruit, diced up into salsas, or it can be cooked as a meat replacement. There are too many ways to eat it! 

The seeds can also be boiled or roasted with great nutritional values! They tasted like potatoes when boiled and cashews when roasted. The seeds are rich in Thiamin and Riboflavin which help turn the food you eat into energy and keep your eyes, skin, & hair healthy. They also provide small amounts of minerals like zinc, iron, calcium, copper, potassium, & magnesium.

Jackfruit gives off a pleasant aroma of bubble gum when it's ripening on your kitchen top and the smell only intensifies as it ripens and as you cut it open. The yellow pods taste very tropical when eaten raw. The taste is of mango, banana, & a hint of pineapple with the bubble gum fragrance of course. Do not let the fruit overripe as it will deteriorate very quickly starting from the step and going toward the bottom of the fruit.
